Chambers Bay Engagement Session
This Chambers Bay Engagement Session was with a charming couple, Tanya and Daniel. Chambers Bay is a fantastic place to shoot engagement and family photos. There are plenty of great backdrops, a park, an open field, a golf course, a bridge, and the beach. The view is not too bad either with an epic panorama view of the Puget Sound. You’re able to see Fox, Anderson, and McNeil islands, and on crystal clear days you’ll be able to get a glimpse of Mt. Olympus in Olympic National Park. It’s no wonder it’s a popular place for people to relax, play, and take photos.
We started by the concrete industrial ruins by the parking lot and worked our way to the beach. The structures were left over from the old Steilacoom gravel mine.
They brought a picnic basket with them that we used later as a prop while they were sitting on a picnic blanket. Towards the end of the shoot we used it again walking with the basket on the beach.
They also brought some balloons, but because it was such a windy day the balloons blew away during our first set of photos! Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise as it is near impossible to take photos of a couple holding balloons on a really windy day, because well… they blow everywhere and anywhere. It’s probably harder to shoot balloons in the wind than shooting kids and pets, and that is really saying something. Anyway, Daniel and Tanya were able to roll with the punches and we were able to get them some great photos.
We finally made it down to the beach to get in the final photos before the sun completely set.
They are getting married mid December at Amazing Grace Church in Seattle, WA. I look forward to shooting their big day. It will be an intimate wedding with family and friends. I know they’re going to have a fantastic time.
