Titlow Park Tacoma Engagement
Titlow Park Tacoma Engagement photography sessions are always a pleasure especially when you’re with a fabulous couple like Alex & Jen. Alex is active duty military so first thing we wanted to do was take pictures in his army fatigues.
Then we snuck under the boardwalk to let the couple get a little closer without anyone gawking at them.
Seems like Titlow Park has been undergoing some remodeling lately. I noticed that there’s this new railing and the landscaping is a bit more manicured toward the end of the paved pathway. I wanted to incorporate this new terrain somehow. We had a great time!
Alex proposed to Jen at Titlow Park, so we decided it would be an excellent place for their engagement session. Since he actually proposed here, I wanted to go to the exact spot where the proposal happened. However, I kept having more ideas for other pictures along the way. Luckily Jen and Alex were game for it all.
It’s amazing how much the feeling of an image can change by just adjusting exposure and composition. Encouraging a couple to move and play is not only fun for them, but I also end up with natural looking photos. As a result a lot of clients find me because they like the fact that a lot of my “posed” images don’t look posed.
Showing off his chivalrous side, Alex proves he’s a true gentleman and helps Jen off the balance beam.
After I took some photos of them walking together I made a few suggestions of other fun things we could try. They jumped at piggyback rides. Jen went first, and then Alex was stoked to have the ride reciprocated.
The Proposal Spot
We found it! This is the spot that Alex proposed to Jen.
On our way back, I had one last idea to have Alex and Jen up on this bluff amongst the tall grass. I got them and my lights set, but when I ran back to my camera, I stepped on a hornets nest. I was stung multiple times on my ankles and in my armpits. Luckily this beautiful couple was not stung at all, and since I endured this wasp attack, I was determined to make it worth it and I was able to get this shot. What do you think? Was it worth it?
