Union Station Engagement Photography in Tacoma, Washington
This Union Station Engagement session was on a rainy day so it was perfect that we were able to shoot inside this Tacoma gem. Union Station was built in 1911 in the architectural style of Beaux-Arts. So… yeah, it’s pretty cool. If you find yourself on Pacific Ave. in downtown Tacoma on a weekday, do yourself a favor and check it out.
Union Station
Chelsea and George were very sweet and we had a nice time inside this beautiful rotunda. You’ll find the ceilings and walls adorned with Chihuly glass.
This window overlooks the port of Tacoma. The downtown waterfront is dominated by industry, but it’s really beautiful. There’s something about giant cranes and shipyards that I find fascinating.
The rain let up a little bit so were able to take some shots outside. I think the front part of the building is really beautiful. The arch, the artwork and the lighting has this Gotham City vibe to it, which of course makes me think of Batman and inevitably Batkid.
Museum of Glass
We strolled over to the Museum of Glass and took some more photos around downtown Tacoma’s amazing architecture.
As I write this, I remember thinking that I need some sort of umbrella backpack contraption. This way when it’s really coming down I can keep shooting as long as the couple wants to. There has to be something out there like this, although I did watch a lot of Inspector Gadget when I was a kid so…
We finished our session at the Washington State History Museum. The accent lights were just coming on, which added a dramatic effect on the white tile arches.
When we were headed back across the street to our cars, I hung behind so I could get a photo of them crossing the street. There’s something really sweet about it.
