University Puget Sound Engagement
This University Puget Sound engagement photography session, with a dog, was shot in the heart of Tacoma, Washington.
I think that 25% of the engagement shoots I do now, couples request to have their pets in some of the photos with them. Dogs aren’t always the easiest models to work with , but I always seem to get lots of great images where everyone is looking their best. I’d probably do the same. I have a little Italian greyhound chihuahua mix that we rescued in 2006. He’s 14 years old, he’s a little bit… or a lot bit blind and deaf, but he still has a lot of spunk in him. Anyway… this blog post is not about my dog.
Ana & Simon’s dog was a sweetheart. Ana and Simon were incredibly nice too 🙂 I’ve done a few shoots on the UPS campus and I think it’s a really great place to shoot especially if school is not in session! Like most locations though, you learn to work around people and other distractions that are in the area that you’re framing up.
I always do my best to incorporate movement into the photos, so nothing looks too posed. Even the posed photos, I do my best to make them appear as natural as possible.
Ana and Simon brought their friend to help wrangle their dog when he was not in pictures. This is a very important detail for couples that want to include their pets or even if they have children for that matter. Someone to keep an eye on a dog is a must!
What a beautiful couple on a great day in the Pacific Northwest. We wish them all the best as they get married this coming year. I’m sure they’ll have many great adventures ahead of them. All of it will be an amazing ride as long as it’s together.
