Tacoma Art Museum Wedding
Tacoma Art Museum Wedding photography. Jay and Monique had a traditional Gujarati wedding in downtown Tacoma. In addition, the celebration extended three days and included Garba and Mehndi gatherings. First of all, if you want to see photos from their engagement session you can find them here. It was a pleasure working with them for their three day wedding and engagement session, because Jay and Monique are an amazing couple.
Getting Ready
They got ready at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in downtown Tacoma. Preet’s Artistry skillfully designed Monique’s henna. Magdalena Ayon beautifully did Monique’s hair and makeup. Visey’s Nail Bar did an excellent job on her nails. As a result, Monique looked absolutely stunning, due to these artists bringing out her natural beauty! Monique’s ceremony sari was designed by Rinku Patel and tailored by Vishal Tailors in Ahmedabad, India. The sari was kept in Jay’s family for almost 28 years, and is the only one of its kind.
We jumped in the car and headed over to UW campus so we could sneak in a few couple’s portraits before the Baraat procession started.
Ceremony
The ceremony was a traditional Hindu ceremony. Most noteworthy to me is that Monique is very organized. She had all the details taken care of along with her amazing wedding planner, Lisa Owens with Elegant Affairs. Most of all, I was impressed with how Monique dealt with a major snafu. Her officiant was over an hour late to the ceremony. Ultimately Jay and Monique handled the situation with grace, class, and forgiveness. That really says something about their character and who they are as people.
Elegant Mandap put together the ceremony mandap and decor. Dandy Flower Company created the stunning floral arrangements.
Reception
Jay and Monique changed into western clothing for the reception, hence the change in their look. Monique found her reception gown at BHLDN, consequently she lit up the room. Her jewelry was from Tiffany.
The reception was held at the Tacoma Art Museum downtown. Especially relevant, the couple obtained special permission for us to take portraits in the Rebecca and Jack Benaroya wing at Tacoma Art Museum featuring the Debora Moore Arboria exhibition. Curry & Kabob catered the delicious dinner. Furthermore, the food was outstanding; I love Indian food. This was probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Pasteles Finos de Angel crafted the beautiful tres leches wedding cake. Seems like it tasted as good as it looked. American Party Place were in charge of rentals, so the space looked perfect.
Finally, what an incredible weekend! Congratulations Jay and Monique! Wishing you all the best today and all the many years to come.
